Opting for environmentally friendly furniture in line with the minimal waste ethos of the Games
Choosing a small business who could meet the lead time
Reducing waste post-event by selling furniture on

The Goal

  • RGS Events Ltd. is an international furniture fittings company which has worked with the most elite sporting events in the country. It prides itself on quality, sustainability and using local sources

  • RGS Events Ltd. were seeking a company, local to Birmingham, to supply hardwearing and environmentally-friendly furniture for certain areas of the arena for spectators to use

A company was needed who could meet the lead time, budget and style the client was looking for

The Solution

  • RGS Events Ltd. found The Pallet Studio through Google, thanks to our fantastic 5* reviews

  • “The passion, enthusiasm and professionalism of Andrej and Ray was evident from day one. The quality of the furniture shone through immediately and the opportunity to provide a unique product for the Games was too great to miss.”

  • The final order was for 33 small sets (2 benches and a table). They were delivered to 2 main sites of the Commonwealth Games - Smithfield Festival Site and Sutton Park - 2 days before the start of the Games. Smithfield hosted beach volleyball and basketball and Sutton Park held a lot of the athletic events. The sets were placed in public areas of the arenas for visitors and spectators to relax, eat, soak up the atmosphere and wait for their next match. The sets were also moved during the Games to be used at Cannock Chase Mountain Biking and Warwick Cycling Road Race.

  • Jon Parker, the main contact at RGS Events Ltd., dealt with the whole process; from the initial enquiry to the final order, payment and a visit to the workshop, complete with alpacas and pygmy goats for company!

  • Andrej built every item single-handedly over 8 weeks, ensuring each item met safety standards, and wrapped sets ready for delivery in later July. We hired Denis’s Removals Swindon for transport as an 18T truck was required

  • The labeled sets were delivered on time to the 2 venues ready to be enjoyed

What are the results?

“100% of sets were sold on after the Games which helped our profit margins”
“The sets were used at four different Commonwealth Games venues in the end”
“The feedback from spectators, staff and television viewers was overwhelmingly positive; the pallet furniture greatly enhanced the experience at Cannock Chase mountain biking, Smithfield Live site, Sutton Park triathlon venue and Warwick cycling road race.”
